Now Im not sure if this is a topic people have posted but it's something I have always found fascinating that with right research you can make medications to help people. what are other peoples options on research with coral. If it means an unlimited amount of medication and without harming all of the corals but continuously growing a colony and only taking pieces to do research or medications are people in favor or against? and why?

Oh this is interesting. I think you might need to redefine your question though. I'm a little bit confused.

Are you talking about taking pieces of coral and harvesting various chemicals and compounds from them? If so, I believe there are a few scientists somewhere looking at making sunscreen. And as long as it's done with a quickly growing coral and in a humane fashion, I don't see why not. We've engineered bacteria and yeast to make insulin, how is this any different?

With research like this it's usually about identifying a new weird chemical (usually some obscure poison) that noone has thought of before and testing to see if it has any effect. Not really about getting a source for an "unlimited amount" , usually if such a chemical is found to do something good, they'll try to manufacture it synthetically.

Yes basically taking either new or old found poisons from harvest corals and making medications such for arthritis or many other functions. It doesn't have to be from fast growing corals which yes it may take longer to manufacture but more room for new types of research. True it may be the same but harder because it's coming from invivo.

Oh true I actually haven't thought bout the synthetic method of manufacturing medications from the poisons. I like that.
