Title pretty much says it all. When I try to google it I get seachem and API products which both are copper based.

Medicine is specific to the disease, copper is a general purpose medicine, but you probably should start with what you're trying to cure and work your way back. There are a couple of good quarantine procedure threads which I've followed with good success.

Fentanyl......

EDIT: Seriously though..... you just (or are about to) order your fish right? So what diseases are you facing already?!?!?! You probably shouldn't have to worry about any of that..... I thought your tank had no inhabitants.......

If you're talking about treating crypto or velvet, CP (chloroquine phosphate) is a non copper option. But I'm not a fish disease person....let's get their eyes on this.

What is chloroquine phosphate and can it be used on a yellow eyed kole tang?

It's a medication... and yes it can. These meds should only be administered in a sterile QT

CP treats ich, velvet, uronema, and brook (I know, very good right!?) But, there are some fish that don’t tolerate it well... and it can suppress appetite a bit more than copper (in my experience, at least)

I agree, it would be helpful to know what you are hoping to treat or what symptoms you’ve observed - on what species of fish- and go from there...with a plan!

Completely agree with ^. With tangs getting them eating right away is critical. If you are ordering from LFS then you can see them eat prior to purchasing. If you are buying online then you hope for a good warranty on the fish. With tangs I have started my CP dose lower 10-15mg/gallon for the first few days while I try to get them to eat. After they start eating well for a couple of days I bump it up to 40mg/gallons but the fish show signs of the change. They typically become lethargic and eat much less. This is definitely less pronounced with other types of fish. IMO tangs are definitely more sensitive.

Last post before this was saying he was getting his first fish for the tank today...... I'm a bit confused......

Could be considering QT of a different fish? Or just curious?

Where is everyone getting their chloroquine phosphate??? Since it needs a vet...? I have a kole tang and I'd like to treat with cupramine or even ich x if its safe to do so. I think he has ich.
