Hello,

I have a tank setup for about 2-3 months now, I have had medusa worms now which I believe came from a snail I placed in the tank.

Is there a fish or invertebrate that will get rid of these?

I had a six line wrasse as my first fish that ended up dieing 2 weeks ago.

It was from possibly being hurt (we put a neon dottyback in the tank and it tried to kill the wrasse that first night, that first morning i took all the rock out to get the dottyback out to bring back to LFS but wrasse was wedged in a rock that we could not see where it was and got hurt from that possibly)

or possibly nipped on a medusa and got poisoned?

Does this sound like i should be worried for the medusas? Or should I be okay with getting a wrasse again if it might nip at medusas? The tank has no fish in it currently, just 2 emeralds, skunk cleaner, 4 blue dwarf hermits, 2 astrea snails and 2 trochus snails.

Can you take pictures so we can try to determine if they are Medusa worms?
I can't imagine one coming as a hitchhiker and multiplying that fast in a new tank.

It looks exactly like that but orangy kinda, im at work currently and can post that later tonight.

Only thing i set the tank up with live sand, dry live rock.

I noticed them after i added those trochus snails

Some were small like quarter inch, others are a good couple inches

I cleaned up tank this morning and got alot of them out, theres still a few that I can see.

That does appear to be a medusa...but i dont generally worry about them.

Is there a easy way to remove them?

They are very gross to see all over rocks.

Successful reef tanks aren't just coral and fish -- they need small invertebrates like those. There will be other things that appear and disappear from time to time as well. I wouldn't worry about them, there is very little you can or should do about beneficial critters like them.

You can always get an appropriate sized wrasse for your tank to eat them.

My blue tang and clown fish pick at them. I’ve seen the blue tang eat a few... should I be worried?
