Picked up Fin today after having my water professionally tested just to make sure. Ammonia and nitrites at 0ppm, pH at 8.2, nitrates at 0-5ppm, salinity at 1.025 (had to rectify this as the saltwater gravity from my LFS came pretty high). I also added two astrea snails to help keep things clean. Really excited to get into the fun part of the hobby!

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!

Great name! :-)

Any particular reason?
Only reason is sometimes things happens and unfortunately they pass away. Then is finv.2 fin.v3.:)

Thanks all,

Here are the two astrea derps stuck together

I have a turbo snail with about 20 nerite eggs on his shell.

I like when they try to sling hermit crabs off of themselves by quickly rotating themselves back and forth.

Congrats on the clown and welcome to R2R.

Understandable! I can see that happening. My first go around so I’m not being 100% optimistic. I just got so excited to put my first fish in so I couldn’t help but name it lol

I’d love to see a pic of your turbo!

Well, sad to say you were right :( . Came home from work yesterday and he was hiding in one of the caves in the live rock. Wouldn’t come out for anything. 10 minutes later he was upside down on the sand. Looking closer it looks like it was maybe a swim bladder issue or a bacterial infection. Lesson learned!

Any idea how things like this happen? My parameters spot on. He did really well for 3 days and then it all came so sudden.

well we never can tell what might happen, i dont know alot about your setup but on very new tanks things can change fast, also a QT period is suggested to make sure there is no sickness, alot of the fish out there look great but after some time things show up, sorry for your loss but it is all part of the learning process

what is the details on entire system?size, hardware, testing equip. and everything else?
