Is melamine safe in hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide?

Reason, i bought a melamine strainer for rinsing deionization resisin that ive soaked in sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid.

It appears hard to find good info on melamine, but what I saw suggested it is probably OK, but may be better in base than very strong acid, but vinegar type acid strength was OK.

Cool it will be dilited acid and base so it wont be full strength. Ill give it a try anyway. Thanks.

Melamine polymerization is never complete. The acid will cause for monomer (melamine) to leach out of the plastic. You say diluted acid, and this is true, but HCl diluted is still a strong acid (Muriatic acid).....considerably stronger than the "food" acids intended for this product. You are also "purifying" the DI resin and I personally would not want to use something that potential leaches stuff in the process of regenerating the resin. It might work, but for another 5 bucks, I'd buy a strainer that I knew wouldn't be potentially problematic. JMTC
