Is the fish still feeding? How long have you had this fish?

It looks to me like an injury, but the fact that it hasn't healed in two months is very odd. My guess is that there isn't going to be any way for you to catch it and move it to a treatment tank, and that is really your only treatment option.

The fish appears ok now but it clearly had something cause that hole damage to the midsection. I think that you should continue normal feeding and maintain tank water quality and trust the fish to heal naturally, maybe having that scarred area going forward?

I would also keep a vigilant watch for aggression between tank mates who may not be happy sharing the space?

you think i should try to remove the damaged scales?

Definitely not - that would only cause more damage. If you can catch the fish, moving it to a treatment tank and trying an antibiotic would be possible, I didn't think you would be able to catch it though....

I'd trust @Jay Hemdal with fish healing techniques more than myself. If you can't stand to look at a damaged fish then catch him and rehome him. This damage might take months or years(?) to heal if it does heal, so if that bothers you then you should figure out a way to get that fish out of your tank. IF you catch the fish then I would try Jay's methods for medication enhanced healing. I look at your pictures and see an interesting, novel, healing, cosmetic wound that does not seem to pose a serious threat to the fishes long-term survival. I could easily be wrong. I just wanted to help you size-up what you have so you can decide how to deal with it. hth.

Ask a cosmetic surgeon what they can do about the damage but I wouldn't recommend that you try and help fix the fish with anything besides good animal husbandry. :)
