will melanurus wrasse clean others? I noticed mine today looked like he picking around my purple firefish's mouth and gills.

I've seen my lunar wrasse do it. From what I understand it's pretty common in the wrasse family.

Interesting timing for this thread. I've never seen any of my wrasses clean another fish until today and it happen to also be my melanurus.

Yes though usually they help much bigger fish.

Be warned. Thalassoma wrasse like to pluck eyes and eat them.

I don't quite remember. I think 2019 I got mine.

He plucked at my Multi Colored Dwarf Angel. So, it wasn't a huge fish by any means.

Otherwise, he always absolutely ignores all the other fish. He's got work to do. Always scanning the rocks.

I have not seen that behavior from my melanurus.
