When doing template aquascape I always take pics so I can look back later to copy or define it.

I've been referencing this pic as I'm putting rock in and was trying to get it close but change it slightly since my fiance doesn't like the grotto rock, which he says looks like a football helmet, right up front. I don't think he understands how much fish would love that kind of open, yet safe cave-ish area and I'd like to have a front row seat to see the fish enjoying it. Plus everyone else seems to love it, so I may just end up saying to heck with his opinion!

And the chirporactor is mostly a joke, although I did get hit by a drunk driver a few years back that makes hovering over the tank for any period of time a little painful. The rock itself is fairly light thank goodness - yay for super porous pukani :D

Nah it did the same thing . I had a decent skimmer , sump/fuge didn't slow it down a bit .

When the tank was new .. this was an old thread I had .Bonsai rock is on the left easily identified .

Hmm, you're making me worried! I love those two purple columns that I have! And I'm sure you loved that bonsai structure - it looked fantastic. I also tried to balance out the aqua-tecture with adding real rock. I guess time will tell how I fair. Hopefully the odds will be in my favor...

You go Girl............ his opinion only counts if he drops $1000 on corals and fish for Christmas on you.
Sorry to hear about that issue from a drunk driver, at least you still can tell the story as many can't, prayer to you.

Well he is smart enough (or lazy enough?) to know that fish/coral money is the best present he can give me! :D

And his plan is to turn my cube into a mantis tank once I transfer everything over so he can reserve all his opinions for his own build!

Looking good. I have one of the first rsm650 and it's interesting to see some of the evolution of this system such as the filter socks. Tank and aquascape is looking good. Can't wait to see final product. N
 
Since I'm in the cycling portion of set-up I'm just curious: Anyone ever use this?

It gets 5 star reviews wherever I look. I'm always hesitant to try this kind of thing, but it just seems like a bottle of bacteria. How bad could it be? There are sales coming up at my local LFSs, which I'm lucky enough to say are House of Fins and Greenwich Aquaria. Would love to make sure my cycle is finished in time to participate. :D

So doesn't seem like using a bacteria conditioner is a totally horrible idea... I'll be going the traditional route for the me xt few weeks but will probably add something as a safety net before throwing some fish in there. Thanks @Scubafrog :)

Well I added the Bio-Spira to my tank last night, as well as some rocks and sand from my cube. We'll see if there is any decrease in my Ammonia when I get home. ::fingers crossed::

Drum roll....

24 hours after adding the Bio-spira and my ammonia went from 0.8 to 0.1 and my nitrites went from 0.2 to 1+. So clearly the bio-spira has jump started the transition but I certainly would not call this tank "fish ready" as they claim it to be as soon as adding the product. Those nitrites could do some damage. Either way I'm happy I added it to move the process along. :)

Add when zero out some ammonia, test and remember and see how fast that will zero out.
Do this two times.
If it zero out ok you'll find to add one fish.
If not zero out within 24 than cycle isn't complete.
