Melting Zoas

Has it been happening recently? Or is this an ongoing issue?

If it's recent, and you notice little tiny white spots (similar to ich on fish); this may be due to zoa pox...I'm currently going through this right now..you can google "zoa pox" for more information.

If it's been happening before recently, it may be due to lighting, predators, nutrients, etc...would need to know more of the situation, animals housed in the tank, and other factors before attempting to diagnose your issue. :)

Check Spegs thing first . I had some that would stay closed someone from LFS told me to try a freshwater dip some kind of bacteria lives on them and will kill them. I tried it and they opened up the next day and have been okay.

hmm...I'll give it a shot. I looked for ZoaPox and didnt see anything. Its like they are just closing and turning clear and melting away. I will try the fresh water dip though. Thanks!

I used to have issues with zoas melting and even zoa pox. After all my research I started dosing vitamin C weekly to the entire tank. I have about 70 gallons of total water volume and I add 10ml each week after water changes. Since then I haven’t had one zoa die and it’s been 6+ months. I’m going to keep doing it because the vitamin C is cheap and the bottle lasts a long time. I figure it can’t hurt.
