Merediths 75g upgrade

I realized it has been a few pages since I put up a FTS and some decent pictures...

So these still arn't the greatest pictures. I had to use the samsung since my Olympus needed a battery charge. Who am I kidding? Even with a $1000 camera, the pictures would still look about the same! lol ;) Oh well! My little frag tips that I glue to plugs arn't doing as hot as I had hoped, but I'll leave them alone for a while and see what happens. The big acro at the top of the "mountain" still doesn't have the best color, but it does look better than it did when I brought it home. I managed to get some decent pictures of the fish too.

i'm pretty disappointed that my new elegance seems to being doing poorly all of a sudden. The other one still hasn't died though, so maybe there is hope for both of them. Only time will tell! I'm not one to give up quickly or easily.

I just downloaded a camera app for my phone. Look at the difference! This is as close to true to life colors as i have been able to get- EVER! With a little practice I bet I could take some pretty great pictures!

Which app? I have used 'camera fv-5 lite' , it's pretty good and free

Looking good Meredith, regardless of which app you're using!!

So, yall know how I like to do things without spending much moola. Well, most of you know that I work for my tank by cooking for a friend and fellow hobbyist. That tends to complicate some things, especially expensive things. So the MP40 is put on hold for a bit, but instead I might be able to get an APEX! I've been wanting one forever and wouldn't be able to get one on my own (the hubs will never agree to that amount of money going into my tank all at once).

I've also been thinking about switching over to LEDs. I have one Onyx light (posted a picture of that a while back) and I'm thinking of trading my current T5 fixture for another Onyx. If I can get the Apex, then I would be more tempted to go the LED route. I need a controller for the leds so I dont have to be here all day turning the nobs to ramp up and down the lights. Who has time for that? lol

Any advice or personal experience with this light fixture? Mine is new and I've never used it for anything. It was going to go over my frag tank, but I have yet to actually get that going.

I do get tired of turning my lights on and off:( sometimes, I even forget to turn them off at night. Sorry I couldn't be of any help besides throwing in my two cent:D

With my current T5's I have to turn on the brighter day light bulbs manually. The actinics turn on with the timer though. Basically, if I'm not home my reef is cloudy. lol But to have to be home to turn the nobs up on leds continually all day long would be a bear.

It is kinda funny that you forget to turn the lights off at night though :D You need a timer my friend.

Wanna hear the funny part? The tank is on my night stand:D the biocube I always remember to turn off but the 3 gallon I like to look at and I guess I just fall asleep and wake up to angry softies lol

This isn't about my tank and I didn't take a picture yet, but I thought it was so funny everybody at work was looking at me like I'm an idiot! First off, they did that because I think I'm hilarious and when I get tickled I just can't stop laughing about it. This was one of those times.

I took in a fish order on Wednesday. It included 6 regal tangs of 3 different sizes.... 2 of each. This along with ohhhh 60 other fish, all requiring different care and placement of each. Why do I preamble with that? Well, with all that was going on that day and prepping places to put all these nano fish we got in, neither me nor my coworker noticed that one of the regal tangs was missing a pectoral fin. There's a stump that moves when he swims, but the fin is gone! It's all healed up with no infection and he's able to swim fine enough, but HOW THE HECK did we miss that?? Crazy right?

Well I get to work today and my friend points this out to me and wants to know what I recommend we do with him. Do we treat? Will he survive? I say, "well, nothing to treat at this point, but I wouldn't try to sell him at full price" Like selling a car with 3 tires right? lol So we decide not to sell him at all, but he can't go in the show tank or else he would be out-competed for food in there! So he went into another tank with corals and only one other fish. The funny part? I named him Nemo! (now here's where my mom says it's not a joke because I'm going to explain it ) It's funny because he's not a clownfish!

There. That's it. A little glimpse into why I'm totally weird. I'm still giggling about it. I'll get a picture of him tomorrow and yall will see. ;)

My purple tang is asserting his dominance over the kole tang. Took him long enough! No damage done and the kole is happy to submit, but man! I was sitting here thinking..."maybe I have a wimpy purple tang" All is well in my little reef. :)

Meredith, I am surprised I didn't see you here in New York. What did you do here and where did you go besides Times Square?
I hope you got out of Manhattan

You named dori nemo??!! Lol nice twist. How's it doing?

See? you get it! I thought it was hilarious because of the gimpy fin. He's doing great. Slowly putting on weight. He's not in a forever home, but it will do for a couple years.

Well, we went on a tour that took us all over.... statue of liberty, elis island ect. We went to brooklyn for pizza. We saw Bruce Willis and George Takai in a play and a musical on broadway. That was wayyy cool! Did a lot of shopping, walking and even a back door deal on Canal St! I had back luck as the two things I bought on Canal St were both messed up. My mom and sister had much better luck! We were only there for a few days so we didn't have much time to do anything else. My sister created a photo scavenger hunt that had some fun things on it like: Grafiti, NY rat, Homeless person with a funny sign, Person sleeping on the subway platform, street performer, famous person... things like that. It was a lot of fun!

Well that's good that he is doing better. It's funny you named him that. How's he doing tonight?
