Merediths 75g upgrade

Well, I'm starting to lose my acros and a few montis. Pretty sad about it too. I'm thinking it may be that I'm not doing my water changes every single week like I should be.... again. I'm making more water and will try to get it done tomorrow after work.... and my anniversary date night. I guess I'll be honest and say I'll do the water change on thursday. lol I'm going to check all the params in the am at work. My kid likes to mess with the whole thing if I try to do it at home while he's awake. I know the eel is probably making a mess of the water so that could be part of it for sure. I'll find out though. I may need to make a serious point of upping the water changes.

I have two blue stars in QT right now. They are both eating and being active. I'm only keeping one. I'm doing TTM and prazi on both and the larger of the two females will go to a customer from the store who happens to live near by. Wish me luck with the beautiful little ladies!! *no pictures for fear of jinxing it*

Good luck!
Sorry to hear that

Thanks! and me too... but It's expected at this point. I'm hoping they will perk up after a little focused attention. If not, I'll take them back to the store and put them in the display tank.

Aaaaaand their up! LEDs in the house yall! They are programmed with the apex and the apex has had its firmware updated and all kinds of things! Its actually useful now! The lights look great and inlove the color. Theres only one problem.... well, you'll see in the pictures. Lol. Look at the hanging kit and see if you can come up with any ideas on how to fix this problem.

Sweeeeeet! Hanging kit.....hmmm. I'm assuming those are fixed and you can't customize them? By the looks of it they go straight into the tabs. This is what your talking about right[emoji12]

Of course this way of hanging the lights is temporary until my husband has a day off where he can make it more permanent and look much better. It doesn't look all the bad right now, but it's obviously not going to work with the lights at two different levels. I may end up revising my first plan and make it two seperate hanging "structures" at different levels to compensate. Of course I'm sure I can figure out a way to shorten the wires on the right fixture, but that will take some thinking.

The apex was difficult to do. I had a friend come over and help me out with it since he's more computer-inclined than I am. It was pretty difficult for him too! But after 3 hours of searches and trying and trying again, we got it working. It's connected to the internet and I have Fusion running and everything! I was surprised because it's such and old apex system. Luckily it works well, and I'm getting used to the web interface- which is WAY easier to use than the stupid display that comes with the system. Now... anybody know if it's possible to set thunderstorms with RapidLED onyx fixture? Got code for it? Also, if I have an ORP and PH probes that are old and have set in a box in a garage for years, can I still use them? I can get the calibrating fluid at work for the PH probe, but I'm not sure if the ORP probe is still usable.

Yes! I'm not sure what to do about it just now. They dont have a way to shorten the wire or anything. Odd that they would come with two different lengths.

Ok cool, easy solution. Find out the width of the wire, go down to home depot, or ace hardware, or lowes, or any hardware store that you have and find some crimps (did I spell that right? Lol) then simply cut the hanger to the length that you need them with a little extra left over and crimp them in place[emoji3] I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but this one seems to be the one that comes to mind lol

Ok. My husband read this and said "well why didn't i think of that". lol Thanks! We are going to try it!

Haha! I ran cables up through my ceiling into the rafters and crimped them. So it (kind of) looks like my lights are floating......If it wasn't for the stupid power chords!!!!!!!!!

OR you can always just wrap the cords around the bar you have them hanging from. Although crimping it will give it a cleaner look. For temporary though it would work

My husband actually had tonight off so we went and got the "butt splice" deals and got it done. They are crimped and looking pretty good I think. I'll get a picture in a bit. I'm pretty excited about it, but I wont get to see it at full peak until sunday... maybe tuesday!

Now I gotta learn how to calibrate a PH probe. I wonder if I can use really old probes that have been sitting in a garage for several years. ORP and PH probes that is.

Glad to hear its all worked out. Good luck with the PH probes I nearly tore all my hair out when using mine and then decided to just throw it out. In my tank ph changes depending on the time of day and I got tired of chasing a ghost to get the PH where I wanted it. I quit looking at it tanks is doing better and I grew my hair back lol

I'm not particularly worried about my PH, but would like to know where it's at. I've never had an issue with it before, but I have the probe and if I can use it then I want to. ya know?

Those are so expensive!! I have two Jebao wp25 wave maker's and they do awesome! For alot less money. Or maybe I don't quite understand how the mp40/10's work. I must admit the way they are cut in half is kinda cool lol

I know! They really are, but I'm doing it with the cooking thing. So really I'm not dishing out the money for it. I"m trading food for it. Which makes it much easier for me. :) I like the low profile of them and the ease of use with the apex. Right now I have a Sicce and a MaxiJet in there and they are both UGLY! I'll be replacing the maxijet with the mp40 and hoping to mix up the current some and make the tank look better with it. It will be about another 4 weeks before I get it minimum and about 28 lbs of food.
