Oh gosh! Yes it's ugly and when I bought it, I had pretty much ZERO money! It's served it's purpose for a while, but now it's time to get something much nicer.
Now.... Just because I can... Remember that little tank I put together for my son? I really did go planted freshwater and a white betta. He insisted on a white "eel" so he got a white betta. After several days of arguing with him about how it's a fish and not an eel.... I asked what his name was going to be and he said "his name Eel" lol. Here's a picture of it.
Its on the end table next to the couch. You can see my stuff behind it, Jacob (my son) watching mickey mouse in the background and R2R on my computer lol.

That's pretty nice! That white betta is cool. Is he standing in front of the tv? Haha! Always funny.
Those maxi jets work really well to be honest, they get the job done ugly or not. Well worth the low price tag.

Yes he's standing on a small chair right in front of the TV. My husband is always telling him to get down, but it's a losing battle. The white betta was hard to find! It took forever for us to get one in the store. Our Freshwater manager took my plight to heart and promised to get at least one for me. Low and behold we got in like 10! I had lots to choose from.

Certainly is a cool looking fish! Tank looks good too. You should maybe look into trying to go for the whole cool grass looking tank!!! I don't like freshwater but those sure look cool. I've also been thinking of getting a smaller tank, to replace my 120 with. I don't know why, but I would kinda like a drilled tank with a nice canopy. I am actually think of getting a 75 and going with smaller fish, or possibly a 90. Sorry for the ramble, just on my mind I suppose

Thanks! I really like them so far. Of course tomorrow is the first day I will get to seem them go through the whole light cycle. I may do some tweeking after that, but who knows? Maybe I'll love it still!
lol.. I do the same thing all the time. I like the little FW tank. It's neat and easy to take care of. Now, the only problem with the Fluval Spec I got is that it's light isn't bright enough to handle most of the cool plants. I can't do the grasses, or anything red. So, unless I upgrade the light, these are the plants I'm stuck with. Still a nice little tank... especially for a 3 year old to deal with.
It's a fluval spec?! Why didn't you say so! That's what my 3 gallon was. From the looks of you tank. You have the five. They make awesome led kits for them. Look up edgebrite for fluval spec on ebay, they fit the stock light mount which is a plus in my book. They are buy it now for 100, but offer them 80 and they will take it....you didn't hear that from me. Great light, my corals seemed to like it alot! My 3 gallon is.......gone now though. But that light in my opinion was way better than the kessil I had over it.

lol! I thought I had! It's nice enough. This one was made specially for planted FW tanks... according to the packaging and the FW guys at the store. I might try to get a better light for it, but not any time soon. My kid doesn't much care about the plants, so for now I'll leave it like it is. I still have things I wanna do to the reef tank first.
By all means! It was just a suggestion for later down the road if you ever thought about upgrading.
By the way, how's the fire and ice doing with that monti? Haven't asked about that in a long time.

They are doing well. I fragged both, so right now they are only partially at war with each other. I'll have to get all new pictures tomorrow with the new lights and all that.

Its all so blue! I know im used to the t5s and how bright they are, but this thr peak of my lighting program. Its so dim and blue. I even adjusted it for the pics. I brought the blue down and the white up. Maybe ill get used to it. Maybe I'll play with it some more. Idk

Thanks for the kind words! The mugs served their purpose during QT that's for sure. But I've graduated to PVC for all new additions. Better safe than sorry

There are times when i feel like a total moron. Today is one of those times. I couldnt figure out why my tank was so darn blue! I kept messing with the controls on thr apex and it was saying everything was on and all, so i was getting frustrated. Well, just now i start inspecting the wiring thinking i did something wrong, and sure enough i had a bad connection! A little push and the whites popped on! Yay!

ya know what? in this case, I absolutely agree! Boy oh boy I feel dumb.
The guys at work are going to get a kick out of this considering I spend most of wednesday yack'n about it.
