Merediths 75g upgrade

Thanks yall! I like it. I was looking at a lot of skimmers, but I was limited by what we can get into the store from our suppliers. I could order directly from whoever I wanted, but that would have charged me something like $40 in shipping! ugh. Me and one of the managers were going through all the skimmers and I favored this one so he went ahead and ordered it for the store. When I saw it yesterday I was like "serendipity!" Happy mother's day to me! Now I just gotta tell my husband what he bought me for the holiday lol.

So far it's stupid quiet. I had to open the cabinet to check and see if it's still running this morning. I'm still not totally sure it's on. I do think I'll have to raise the water level in the sump an inch or so to get it to work just right though. I'm going to wait until this weekend before making that change.

nice! I was thinking about that one. I almost got the 150.... but our supplier didn't have them and I would have had to order direct from Coralvue. I'm happy with this one so far and haven't had to adjust the water level either... so all good. :)

Glad to hear the skimmer worked out! I love my reef octopus skimmers.

I'll tell ya... it's really fun to show things like this to non-reefers. My parents came over yesterday to drop off my son and asked what I got for mother's day from my husband. I proudly showed them my new skimmer under the tank. I breezed over the best parts of it, some specs and of course my favorite part - silence! My parents just stared at me with this quiet smile that said "what tha-" but I could tell they were trying to be kind and excited for me when they started nodding and saying "yes it looks great honey" lol.

I'll go see my best friend and tell her the same things when she asks and show her pictures. I know she'll just nod and smile and wait for the crazy lady to stop babbling. :D

I have the best customers. Today one of my favorites came in and i got to meet his lovely wife and beautiful kids. He got is fish and a few corals and before he left he brought me a present. Really I shouldn't have excepted it. Its too much! But I was really taken aback and moved. I tried really hard not to cry. See that picture of the neptune Auto feeder? That was my gift! How sweet was that!?! Man, now i gotta hook it up and test it out. Im so excited!!! Thanks so much @MbunaJohn !!!

I'm geeking out right now because the Auto feeder deal just turned on lol. I know you guys will understand this because my husband is looking at me like i'm crazy. A good portion of my fish ate the pellets too! Even the Leopard wrasse! This thing was stink'n easy to set up too!

That's pretty awesome!

I brought my good camera to the store today and took pictures. None of these are my fish in particular and some of it is actually for sale. A good portion of the pictures are from the display tank I maintain. I still dont have a filter for my camera so the pictures are still mostly blue. Anyway, I'm going to be sending these to the manager for promotional purposes and figured I would share. I just wish more of them had been perfectly in focus. I'm going to bring the camera back on wednesday and try some more.

Oh and those hawkfish are HUGE like 5 inches! There is a Golden Hawkfish and a Tuamotu Hawkfish - both are $200!!! And this is the Common Stingray that I've been taking care of until it sells. It eats like a pig and is one of my favorites right now.

Wow.. i wonder how u guys keep eels in a reef tank? Dont they kill fish? They might be increasing the bioload alot, right?

They do indeed increase the bioload.... and my mistake was that I was already getting close to capacity while still keeping my SPS alive. Once I added him, my sps didn't fare well. So, now I'm just going to focus on higher end LPS, zoas and mushrooms. I enjoy those quite a bit and will be able to keep them perfectly well.

As to them eating fish... well.... he did take a bite of my blue star leopard wrasse (the cuts healed over just fine with a little help from me) but I've learned that if I feed him 2 silversides every other day, it's a good balance to keeping him well fed and not creating more poop than I can handle from him. There's always a risk that he will eat my fire shrimp, but so far so good. It's a risk I accept.
