Just picked up a couple Mermaid's Fans because they were pretty and on sale... Can't find but a single mention of them across all of R2R. Anybody got some doing great? Pics? How about stuff to definitely not do? Any fish wanna eat them?

its a calcareous algae, so be sure to keep your calcium alk and mg up to par. They usually have the stalk embedded in the sand, provide medium to strong light. Fish dont seem to graze on them very much, probably too tough / dont taste good

Oh, I should bury the... rocky root knob thing? I did not do that. Good to know. They shipped me two palm-sized ones and one that is smaller than my tiny blue reef hermits. I think it's going to live in the sump.

yep bury the root end into the sand

I got one of those. I got her at Disney.
