I'm wanting to get one of those diy mesh cover kits after one of my fish decided to leave:(, but I have my lights on the tank, Can't get to hang the lights so will need to fit the cover around the light brackets, anyone got any pics of how they done it? can't seem to find any.
this is mine, the only way I can see to do it would be to buy extra corner peices and go around the brackets.

If you can afford some minor light loss, egg crate may also work for you. Haven't tried it myself but I've seen it used as a lid on other tanks.

I use egg crate on my son's 90g it works well. Since he has T5s there are no real issues.
It just isn't as elegant.

Yea he's good.
if you diy, use dish soap to lube the blade on a jigsaw and you can get really smooth cuts.

Another option might be to just make the framed screen part narrower front to back so it clears the brackets, then attach some eggcrate to the back of the to fill around the voids caused by the brackets.

Two-part putty like Epo Putty would work great to attach the eggcrate to the screen frame, is super easy to work with, cheap, and is reef safe so comes in handy elsewhere. You can smooth it out with a wet finger one you have it in place and paint it once it dries if you're concerned about looks.

IME when trying to make the framing for the screen itself an odd shape with cut-outs etc, it becomes very flimsy.
