Mess up on my part with RODI. suggestions?

My tank has been up and running for 6 weeks now. Everything seems to be going good except for nitrates. They are still fluctuating between 40 and 80 PPM.

2 weeks ago I did a 10% water change in my 125 gallon DT with 30 gallon sump.

The watet change really didn't change my nitrates at all.

But anyways I was reading an article this morning about how city water can have high nitrates so I did a little bit of testing my city water was through the roof with nitrates and my reserve RODI water was running about 80 PPM. With 4tds.

I then remembered that I did not have the proper canister for my DIY resin that goes into my tube so I dumped the old resin grab the tube put new DIY resin in it and set it up and tested the water with the Rodi system properly set up Which resulted in 0 PPM nitrates with 0 TDS.


QUESTION: I have invertebrates in my tank for the last 3 weeks and they seem to be doing okay. How much of a water change and frequently should I do with new rodi water that is 0 TDS and 0 nitrates?

Total system volume would be roughly 155 gallons.

I would just stick with your normal water change schedule. 4 TDS, while not ideal, shouldn't harm anything. Your RO membrane should have caught most of the copper or other heavy metals. You may notice increased algae for a bit as it consumes the nutrients. But you should be ok

I would just continue too do 10 -15 % water changes each week or every other week , 6 weeks is not long when cycling a tank especially when starting with say dry rock .. I would just give it time look again after 10-12 weeks your nitrates should be down by then
