Iknow tangs aren't the cleanest fish but does anyone have there sand bed covered in the waste, do you manually remove it? I have a protein skimmer but that’s not helping

Protein skimmer only removes dissolved organic and fine particulate waste. Not sure why you’d expect it to remove detritus settling on the sand. Accumulation of detritus is usually a sign of insufficient flow. Tangs are messy, all herbivores are as they are inefficient metabolizers.

Skimmer and corals do this for me. If it is laying on bed, you May have a lack of water flow

I might have some here and there, but I wouldn't say covered.

What tang, how big is it, and how big is the tank?

It’s a 3.5inch yellow tang in a 65 gallon and ird say atleast 15 droplets the flow should be decent enough I got 2 gyres 330s at 50%
