Metal clamps

Will these metal clamps cause a problem in the aquarium or is ok to have them there?

Nope, they have to go. They make plastic clamps....I think BRS sells them.

Or these. If you're going to use more than a few of them, this is a lot cheaper.
 
I had two of these on return pumps on my last set up for 2 years. No issues. I did have only LPS corals at the time, and the tank was 190g so I don't know how much those two little bolts could contaminate the water.

The clamp itself is stainless, and doesn't cause issues, the bolt used to open and close is NOT stainless and will rust.

If you're concerned about it, then just go with the plastic ones.
