I am planning to buy coralife 150w HQI metal halide tank mount fixture for my 20L tank. Does anyone using this on their 20 Long tank (30"LX12"HX12"W)? will it over kill or should be fine?

just watch the temp swings with it.

You should be fine.
As far as temp put a fan over ur tank.
But make sure you have a auto top off.
I have a fan blowing hard over my tank.
It keeps it right at 78.8 but I lose a lot of water too.
Right now I think I lose about 1.5 gallons Adam on my 90 gallon reef...
