Metal Halide Glass

Hi, wondered if anyone has had to replace the glass on a metal halide. I have a 150w Aqua Medic Ocean Light with a cracked cover glass, and have been told not to use it without. Trouble is cant seem to get a replacement!

Anyone help.....?

If its a DE (double ended) MH bulb you have to run the glass on the fixture. Unlike SE (single ended) bulbs, DE bulbs do not have the protective UV shield coating on the bulbs themselves, and the rays can damage you and your coral. I'd get into contact with who you bought it from, or a distributor that sells them. They should be able to get you one pretty easy.

local glass company can cut you one. just ask for uv protected glass and your good and yes dont run a de with out it.

Yep its a double ender so of the back of your reply I have whizzed a Q of too the Aqua Medic as my retailer has been double useless! Watch this space.... have to stick with tubes till its fixed :cry:. First coral will have to wait!

We have member here that busted his as well. Hopefully he will be along soon. He found the glass somewhere.

Cheers for that I had dismissed the local suppliers due to the unknown.... worth a try now. Bet I end up with 2 bits now!

your local glass shop will get you one but if it is anything like mine they don't have it in stock and it will take a week to get it. when I went for for a replacement for my reef optix 3 reflector they wanted $50 bucks for it. I laughed at him....I found it on ebay for $24 shipped....guess I got the last laugh on that one. I can give you the link to the guy I got mine from to see if he can get the aqua medic glass you need.

Cheers for that, checked the link no Aqua Medic but I'll drop him a line to see what he can do.... guess they may ship to UK! Previously tried to order 18" T5 Actinics to fit around the edge of my cube, UK bit was fine just the tubes were an issue to ship overseas. Watch this space!
