Can I get by with a 60” 250 watt Hamilton Cebu Sun fixture with 2 MH and 4 T5 bulbs on a 72x29x26 tank or do I need the 72” fixture with 3 250 watt MH bulbs? I plan to have a lot of SPS. I thought the 60” model might be good so I don’t get as much light spillage. Thank you.

With that u need 3 h
Mh . I'm doing a new build n doing 2 250s and 2 ai sols for main light n dusk to dawn effect and 4 t5 36" just to soften everything up some over a 125 80% sps tank . But ttats just me just using the mh for high light 2-4 hours a day .

Agreed. You will need three metal halides on a 72” tank. One every 24 “.

A 250w mh will cover a 24×24" area with plenty of light for sps. Yes a 2x250w 60" fixture will work on a 72" tank, placement of corals will be important, keeping higher light corals near the light scource and lower light corals will do fine at the ends. You could always add a couple Kessile pods to the ends later. Or just get a 3x 250w fixture and be done with it. I would get one wirh XHO blue leds instead of T5 to keep buld replacement cost down.
