Metal Halide T5 Ebay light Question

The same would be said for the MH globes, and sadly the ballast as well. Recently a friend measured output from a 150w mh in that style and I measured mine(my ballast is a brick and it was significantly different.
I would look used name brand first at that price, but that said it will work just fine.

You'd have to ask the owner or put your hands on the actual light you're going to buy to know for sure, but these lights can actually be a pain to own.

Unless the case extrusion is near-perfect, those little panels and glasses are a pain to move out of the way during all bulbs changes.
Unless the bulb clips (halide ad T5) are near perfect, they'll be ridiculously tight and you'll be worried about breaking the clips every time you change a bulb.

I'd ask for closeup photos of all the bulb clips in advance if you're buying used...make sure none are broken or cracked already.

And like Salty said, if this is one of those junky Chinese models (looks a bit like Marineland's old fixture, but it's probably not), folks generally replace the bulbs and ballasts immediately - even if they're brand new. It's possible the human factors I mentioned above will be tolerable and folks seem to like the fixtures OK with industry standard bulbs an ballasts running it.

Ditto about shopping for a good brand, but used, as a better way to save money.

Still trying to move away from LED?

If LED's are on the table for consideration, then a DIY build is the best way to light a reef on the cheap. Let me know if this is interesting. :)
