i have a giesemann nova 2 pendant it's a 150 watt de.it runs on a magnetic ballast,the time has come to change the bulb in it.i was wondering if you can run any 150 watt de bulb on that ballast or does it have to be certain ones.i'm running a giesemann 20k right now but i want to explore a few more color options.in the book for the light it says they recomend radium bulbs.i just don't want to be stuck two brands when theres so many other nice bulbs out there.

If DE go with phoenix 14k. The Radiums don't work with magnetic ballasts.

HQI ballast are magnetic. US specs for 150w and 250w radiums are on HQI ballasts.

Im running DE phoenix 14k really like them, o and you could run any de lamp in that fixture.

cool,i'm glad to hear that i have some more options.now comes the fun part trying to decide which bulb to go with.i'm thinking a 15k for sure.i have heard good things about the phoenix.but i just don't know yet anyone have any advice i want something with good color that packs a punch too.i don't run any actinics over my tank.it's a 20 gal.mixed reef.
