Howdy,

I am curious to know how everyone feels about using metal screen framing from home depot / lowe's to make their screen tops? Safe? I know it's metal and when you cut the frame you're removing the finish and exposing the metal to rust etc.

I would say as long as it's aluminum your good to go.

You can purchase HD or Lowe's aluminum screen extrusions, plastic corner pieces, rubber cording and roller tool. . Inexpensive and easy. Buy the plastic mesh from a local or online supplier,

What about 80/20. It’s super high quality and beautiful

I made several screen lids already, just asking if they're okay. My Dad suggested painting over the cut edges with nail polish to avoid any rusting. They're definitely aluminum but you don't want aluminum in your tank either.
