hello all been a bit since I’ve been on here so anyhow...I’m in the process of building a 180 gallon standard tank dual drilled mariland. The stand is being custom built by a skilled welder. But my question is can I just have the tank supported only by the plastic trim on the tank. Meaning the bottom will be floating. The stand will have the two center supports under the two on the bottom of the tank also so essentially the tank will be sitting on straight frame 100% along with the two center supports. Is this ok? I hear folks saying place a sheet of wood under it but with these tanks that have black trim the glass is actually lifted a bit so it won’t even touch the wood anyhow. Please give me your feed back please thanks!

Yup, odds are even on a sheet of plywood only the edges of the frame would be touching. You only need the plywood for rimless tanks.
