Metasorb usage

Metasorb info states that it is important that it shouldn't be used for more than 10 days continuously. I am just curious as to why?

Interestingly it also says 'There is no harm to leaving the bag in the aquarium for long periods'..... a little contradictory.

A legitimate concern might be driving trace elements too low by continuously putting in new metasorb, but a single batch left in long term would not generally keep absorbing more forever.
