good day to everyone,

what meathods do you all use for keeping nitrates, phosphates, etc. down to zero or close to zero?

im looking for other ways to keep my 25G cube as low nutrients as possiable but enough to grow my mini reef. im trying to avoid DSB in the sump, any other options?

please do share what you are useing or doing.

I used to use GFO to help keep phosphates down because I had tangs that would eat a lot. In this build I'm keeping my bioload down and hoping that cheato in the sump will do the trick.

...... ... corals need nutrients... the answer to your question is lots of live rock is how I do it! ;)

Also good water! A RO/DI unit that is producing near 0 level TDS etc.

simple increase the ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte, phosphate consumers.

I use a refugium with fast growing macro algaes.

my .02

I use a fuge, carbon, gfo, and a good skimmer but have cleaned my water too much. Now I am taking action to dirty the water a little by reducing gfo and feeding a little more liberally.

what do you all use in your fuge??

anything speacial or just hair algea?

what do you keep in your sumps as well?

Overrated skimmer, live rock and cheato.

I'm running a sand less system.

Oh, for a moment you had me ready to pounce... lol... you are saying, use an over rated skimmer.. not that skimmers are over rated...

yep.. I agree.

Except.. IMO any fast growing algae are fine and my refugium has several and they even vary.

Frequent water changes and nitrate adsorbers in the filter.
