About to embark on a Google search of my own, but am debating putting a mangrove in my 25 lagoon display. What are your methods to mounting?

I have them sitting in my overflow box

I talked to a guy once that simply plopped them into his filter box in the back... I am curious also...
Lurking...

What are you trying to do with it, are you trying to make it a part of your aquascape? I've read they do best when planted in substrate. This way they can root well right away and will grow better for it. I've floated them on a peice of foam before to help grow that nice root system they are know for, it worked for some time but I ended up losing it eventually. I think it might have been because it wasted too much energy trying to etablish a root system.

I am trying to incorporate it into my aquascape. We have about 12 in the store now with 4 leaves each and about 6" roots.

For those of you with them in your overflow, do you supplement lighting in any way or is it ambient from your tank light? Trying to keep a very clean look as far as equipment goes.

And those clips are fancy! Looking online i found just a bamboo skewer and a rubber band will work until it gets established?

I know some people say differently but I have seen them grow under water. Anybody else?

Mine seem to get enough light from the room and the lights on the tank. I do have a Window close to the tank but no direct sunlight comes close to the tank.

That is typically how you start them. You bury the base of the mangrove pod in the sand and it will grow upwards towards the waters surface until it reaches the surface at which point they sprout leaves. At the same time, the roots will grow under the sand. I suspended mine so the roots create a canopy in my display refugium. They will continue to grow the roots downwards until the roots find the sand. They do just fine growing either way but you cant start one in the sand and then pull it and suspend it as the roots will die that way. You can however start them above the sand like I did and they will adjust fine.

Cool! What is that they they are "growing" through?

Thanks for all the replys everyone. Fwiw here's a couple pics of the mangroves we have in the shop. Anyone see one that stands out from the rest?
