does metro (metroplex/general cure) inhibit the bacteria from working?

Both are used frequently in QTs. Works fine in that environment. The effects on a reef tank can vary with some corals and inverts reacting badly.

This is something most people on R2R would not recommend doing, but I just got through dosing my display tank with metro for 14 days. 7 doses over that time as the instructions called for. The last dose was 4 days ago. Today, ammonia and nitrites are at zero so it appears the bio-filter was not impacted. However, I have been dosing NoPoX to lower nitrates and the dose I was using usually would lower nitrates to 0.25 PPM, but over this time period it was steady at 0.5 ppm until a couple of days ago it rose to 0.75 ppm. Today it is back down to 0.5. I would conclude that the Metro did have a slight impact on the bacteria population that can convert nitrates to nitrogen. My tank probably has more live rock per gallon than most and I have a biobrick in the sump so my biofilter capacity, to begin with, may be greater that average.
