Please post pics and/or video. I do not recommend Metro unless absolutely necessary and has to used precisely by weight. Maracyn is good for eye issues and again if necessary. You did not mention what symptoms or issues you are having.
That’s the somewhat complex situation. I’ll try to summit up as best I can but two months ago one of my paired fish. The only fish in my 40 gallon display tank stopped eating. I tried to treat her with expel p as recommended by lfs in a hospital tank. she did not get better and got worse. While the male clown fish was also treated at the same time, but when the female died in the hospital tank, I put him back into the display tank. He had not been showing any symptoms prior to that and did not after. Although there were definitely some sort of parasites, that seemed to be in the hospital following dosing. after about 3 weeks of watching to make sure that the male clown fish was doing OK I decided that it was best to get him a new partner so we got a small clown fish from the local fish store where all the fish are treated in copper solution and for parasites. They immediately got along well no fighting. . The original male clown fish started to show some increased, breathing rate and minimized appetite about 2 weeks later which is what the original female clown fish was showing to begin with. So I treated with focus and metro combined with food and that seemed to work after running the full course. Then about four days ago, I noticed him showing the same symptoms again so I started to try and get him to eat the metro focus food combo again. His appetite was not great, but he was still eating. I figured instead of waiting until he died I would just do the Expel p in the hospital tank, which was fully cleaned and reassembled. After being overnight in the hospital tank, he got significantly worse was listing on his side and part of his tail was missing the next day. I at this point I also noticed some white or lightened spots on his face or near his top fin and wasn’t sure what was going on. Thinking about it in retrospect, I had noticed a little bit of white or lightning on his face the day before when he was eating less before he went into the hospital tank. I panicked dumped both fish back into the display tank. And called the local fish store trying to figure out what was going on. They assumed that it was a bunch of things that clearly wasn’t like the fish were fighting or that other fish in the tank were hurting them or that it was ammo spike all of which were ruled out. When I woke up the next morning, the rest of his tail was gone and he seemed to be doing better otherwise compared to the day before when I threw him back into the display tank. He did not eat in the hospital tank, but he did eat sparingly in the display tank today. I went as soon as I could, to the lfs today which is an hour away this morning they tested the water in the display and in the hospital tank, noting that both were absolutely fine with a very slight variance of slightly low magnesium in the hospital tank, sent me home with some magnesium and Told me to keep an eye on the pH in the and the male was either doing better or was doing significantly worse to treat him with metro again in the water rather than in food along with maracyn and if that did not work to try sulfaplex. then after he seem to be doing better from that, to try the expel again to try and get rid of any parasites. I just finished cleaning out the hospital tank from the expel P dose completely did new water and wiped everything down. Nothing in there now he’s still in the display tank trying to figure out what to put in there with him tomorrow.
You can use them together in a treatment tank, but it is kind of an odd combination. You should monitor the ammonia in case the Maracyn kills the beneficial bacteria.
Yeah. I was told to have ammo lock or something on hand and to constantly check the ammonia. Have water to move or change ready. Which is fine since I work from home. I just want my sweet fishy to be okay!
Ammo- lock, best for freshwater and dos Not remove ammonia- Best is water change. Your description suggests brooklynella in which Expel is not my first choice but rather Ruby Rally Pro.
Also I know it just binds it but it’s good in a pinch. The Maracay said the Fritz accr - which I’ve ordered but can’t get locally
The tail on the clown also badly damaged and may be fin rot which is often bacterial.
Right. His tail was fine Thursday. They sent me home with the Maracyn and sulfaplex to deal with bacterial or fungal and then told me to try treating for internal parasites again to deal with the initial presentation of increased breathing and lowered appetite
Is the fish in a treatment tank now after the last video? You need to get it in a full dose of antibiotics right away, I’d use two for broader coverage.
No he had been back in the display since Friday evening with the UV going. Got meds yesterday. LFS said to do the meds today in QT. Since he was getting stronger again in the display. Should I go with the Maracyn and metro to start then or the sulfaplex snd maracyn? I don’t want to make things worse like the last round of QT and treatment did Thursday night.
Well both fish are in QT with maracyn currently. I’m trying my best. I love James fish. He’s so sweet. I just want to help but I feel lost.
Should I also do the sulfaplex from the start?
Thank for the input. Those others were there but he specifically didn’t suggest them at the LFS. I should be okay to start the sulfaplex along with the Maracyn
