Hello I’m about to use metroplex with some pellet food to treat a possible internal infection with one of my clown causing white poop and a big bloated under belly. From what I’ve read on here people say to use focus to bind it to the food to protect inverts from getting sick from the metro. My LFS advised I didn’t have to do this and they’ve never really seen any side effects. I currently only have a coral banded shrimp a pistol shrimp and some clean up crew blue legs as inverts.

You can use Focus or unflavored gelatin to bind the medication to the food. I've never seen any ill effects when dosing medication to the display tank while using Focus as a binder.

Yea focus is what you need to bind the medication to the food so the metro doesn’t leech into the water column. So you need Metro/GC+ Focus to bind in frozen food or Metro/GC+Selcon+Focus in pellet type food.

Hi! I am not super sure with pellet foods how this works but I would follow the directions from Humblefish here on R2R. I believe if you do a search you should find it. When using frozen food it us really easy to just mix in the powders.

Yes just one scoop each of which ever medication you are using.

When treating internal parasites, it's best to deliver the medication directly to the fish's gut. Mixing Metro + food + focus does that very well. For a broader med, you can use General Cure. It contains both praziquantel and metro so it covers a wider variety of parasites.

Thanks everyone. Went back got the focus. Also any suggested dose? The pack says one measure in a food paste for the metro and the focus says 5:1 but I assume that’s for treating the whole tank. I added about 1.5 measures to the food paste

One scoop of food + one scoop of Focus + one scoop of Metro + a bit of water. Option to add a bit of garlic to the mix for picky fish that are put off by the smell of the Metro.
Can also put the mix into a bit of "Masstick" that Butterflies, Angels, and some Tangs like to pick away at. This stuff really works great for some fish.

You can feed daily for up to 3 weeks or until the symptoms change. Can also add a pinch of plain USP Epsom salts to the mix. It will help the fish to pass the dead worms/parasites.
