has anyone ever successfully treated ick or velvet with metronidazole? Seachem states metroplex as a good choice for Protozoa. Keep in mind this is a general question because they also say paraguard will treat ick

I didn't try it to treat velvet nor ich, but metronidazole is known as antibiotic and antiprotozoal medication even for humans (I recently got prescribed one :P). I've read a research done on fish to treat ich with metro, but the conclusion didn't give a definitive answer about the success rate or how effective it is. Also here seachem metro is so expensive compared to other methods, so for me i'd certainly rely on other proven, much cheaper methods and leave metro for bacterial infections.

I had a case of ich and it was suggested to use metroplex, focus, and vitamirin m with frozen to treat in the system without follow. The treatment worked very well, then I add vitamin c and also, b-12.

So you done this in your DT and feed it to protect the inverts. This is exactly the reason I was searching for !!! If metronidazole bound with focus is successful in treating Protozoa would we not have the reef safe "holly Grail " so to speak. And we could treat our fish in the DT. Anyone else ever tried this methode ?

I've used it with focus and I think it help partially. All my fish are happy and healthy however my number one rule to a happy display is making sure your fish are all compatible. The time I finally was able to do so, my fish could not have been more healthy.

Also when using the product, I only mixed it with a high quality frozen food and fed enough where just the fish ate it. I also ran carbon throughout that.
