Looking to order some snails to add to my CUC from liveaquaria. Anyone ever order CUC from them, if so, what was your experience? I’m currently battling hair algea and wanted to order some Mexican turbos. Unfortunately I’m not to sure about adding them directly to my DT. Do you guys quarantine snails and CUC and for how long? If not, have any of you ever had your systems crash with disease from inverts?
I’m currently quarantining fish so I can’t add them to my QT. Adding an additional QT just isn’t an option. I either order and toss them in or wait till these fish are done and then order.
Meanwhile my tank is being over run with hair algae. My nitrates were around 10 when I checked last week. Phosphates around .04. Gonna do another test today since I did my water change yesterday. Just changed my T5’s and added to hydra 32’s. My tank is a 120 gallon 4x2x2. Tank. 40 gallon sump.

Your best bet is just to contact the vendor and ask how they keep inverts. Many keep them separate and so they should at least be free of fish disease. If they do not or they do not know you can find a vendor who does. I think I have asked liveaquaria in the past and they told me they do keep them separate but I would recheck to make sure the policy has not changed.

Yeah that was my next step. I’ve only recently started quarantining with my new system. In the past I’ve placed everything right into my tank. Now with the expensive fish in my system and the lessons I’ve learned, I quarantine all of my fish. Still haven’t done that with my inverts. Shrimp and snails all from my LFS. Straight into my display. I know my LFS keeps all inverts in their own system but they do keep some fish in those systems as well. It’s usually their coral displays where they house snails and urchins. What type of disease can be introduced into a system from inverts? I though some inverts like starfish can only get dropped right into a display?

I have ordered from live aquaria. Most of my live stock comes from there (no LFS within 2 hrs of where I live). I have had nothing but good experiences ording from there. I have contacted them about the inverts and they do keep them separate. I have gotten some snails and emerald crabs. Tossed them right in and 6 months later they are still going strong. No adverse effects on my dt or fish or corals. I highly recommend liveaquaria

I would still look into quarantining them if you're focusing on it in your system. LiveAquaria does not have the best reputation for delivering disease free fish, and if their invert systems are anywhere near their fish I would be hesitant.

I’ve only ordered from Divers Den. Wait, I take that back. I originally ordered fish when I first started my tank last year from live aquaria. 6 randall Anthias. 5 came in DOA. Last one made it through quarantine only to die a few months later (not sure why). Divers Den I’ve order my regal and Bellus angels, my yellow Coris wrasse and now my Current fish in quarantine (Fijian mimic tang, tiger goby, randali goby pair) all have done great. I only lost 1 mimic tang from DD and it was midway through copper treatment. I posted it on here. Still no clue what happened.
Anyways, regular LA hasn’t been great with fish. DD has good stuff. Prices are high and they don’t give coupons with orders anymore but the fish always seem healthy. I doubt DD will quarantine snails outside of those orange shelled ones lol.

I have never inspected the inverts first hand with a microscope and witnessed it but the going theory is that velvet and ich can hitchhike for a short time on inverts even though they cannot complete the lifecycle. I don't know about uronema. I do not have a separate QT for inverts and I cannot use my fish one because of the medications. Typically the biggest problem I have with inverts is if they die soon after shipping. I generally place them out in the open out of the flow so if they don't move overnight I can take them out without too much hassle.

Yeah I do the same. I Tried ordering from reef cleaners and half my order came in DOA. All my trochus snails and 4 out of 5 scarlet hermits. Usually when something dies in my tank the nass. Snails devour it before I get a chance to remove it. I’m thinking I’ll wait and do a CUC quarantine next round. I can’t afford to lose my livestock. Too much time and money invested. Just started copper on my current batch of fish.
