Thinking of adding in some MH lighting. Does anyone run multiple bulbs off one ballast? It may be ridiculous, but the thought is to spread out the points of light (6 x 150 watt). Thank you

Its usually 1 bulb per ballast. Unless you get a dual ballast then you can run 2. Galaxy made the dual ballasts but I believe it was for 250w and 400w. 150w halides dont get much love

So to run 6 bulbs you would need 6 seperate ballasts. Thats a good bit of light, what size tank will thisbp on?

Thank you for the input. Just thinking of the next build. I don't want to dwell on this (DIY in me), I was thinking you might be able to parallel or series bulbs like fluorescents.

Tank I want would be 66x36x30 peninsula for SPS/Fish. So realistically Four 250watt(or Two 400watt?) set up with single bulb ballasts will be the best reliability? Thanks again!

30" tall tank I would do 400watts. Being the tank would be 3' wide I would go with at minimum 2 400w with large reflectors like the lumenbrite.

So with the lumenbright reflectors (with 400watt), having Four bulbs (250 watt, multiple points of light) would be just adding unnecessary complexity? I do like the idea (mine, LOL) of redundancy of multiple bulbs for rotation and or replacement. But being a new student with lighting, will Four-250watt drive to same depths as Two-400watt?
