I have been a long time MH user. I have not been very pleased with my lighting setup 2x 250w DE PFO pendants and ballast 20k Odyssea bulbs was using Phoenix 14k but wanted bluer. Also added a Reef Bar LED strip. This combo of 20k bulbs are not blue enough for my liking, part of it is the ballast I think. My old setup used Icecap ballasts and Phoenix 14k was a nice blue and 20k was very blue and I loved it. I dont want to spend the money on different ballasts and would rather spwnd the money on a multi channel black box, hear good things about Viparspectra 165w lights. My tanks is a 48" 75g Marineland mostly sps mixed reef and I think 2 165w BB would do the trick. What are the thoughts of R2R on switching lighting?

The MH most likely has a lot higher par than the BB.

Grab a lux meter and test the light at the top of the water.

My 150 MH pedant was about the same as the B.B. at 12 or so from the light from the light on the same tank.

Worth the $16 to see.

I’d go with 3 boxes. And I’d also go SBreeflight if you can.
(My acros took off in less than two weeks)
