Hey folks,

Me and the family are thinking about heading down to Michigan tomorrow for the weekend ... just for leisure and shopping. Was wondering what's a good place to visit and maybe meet up with some of the local reefers eg. MarvinsReef, muchoreef etc. (whoever knows muchoreef can you let him know please?)

Thanks,
Paul

Tropicorium would be my first choice. Fish doctors (I usually go to the one in Ypsilanti, don't know about the others). If you don't mind the drive Preuss pets in Lansing is also very nice, lots of coral frags. They also have birds, cats, and all kinds of other stuff (They have dedicated employees for each area that have to know the area so its not like going to alot of pet stores where the people working the area may know nothing about it). Don't know anything about coral paradise, will have to check that one out myself.

Paradise isn't open for regular retail walk throughs, but if you looking for something specific give him a call.
Kee's at 23 and Van **** is worth the stop, never been to Pruess. Trop for sure. If your looking for shopping other than for a tank, the Summer Set Collection in Troy or Partridge Creek in Sterling Heights are both fun places to go shop and people watch.

Tropicorium is awesome, 20,000 gals + of SW! Sharks, rays, big fish and fileds of coral... hard to beat!

Preuss is also amazing but well out of your way.

Trop isnt too far from the border, just hit 75 south, Exit Northline Rd and go West until you hit Inkster Rd.(about 5 miles.) make a left on Inkster and take it all the way South to Trop(another few miles) will be on the right hand side, look for a white mailbox with a Fish on it ;)

If you havent been there its a must see.....but be aware that its not your pretty, well layed out retail shop. Its a greenhouse turned coral farm, so leave your coat in the car, it will be hot in there no matter the temp outside.

Now Pruess Pets in Lansing, IS your pretty well layed out retail shop. Very nice place to go and see, the shop is HUGE and they have everything you could probably think of, birds, reptiles, fish, etc. After making the 4 hour drive to get to Mi, whats another Hour? LOL check it out if you have time

Do you need special documentation to bring corals over the boarder???
Are you coming over via the Blue Water Bridge?? If so just stay on 94 west youll run right past Partridge Creek out door mall ( very cool) continue down 94 to 75 then you can hit Trop. 75 north will take you past the Summer Set Collection and near Tomasz house. Further up 75 Great Lakes Crossing with Rainforest cafe (crappy food, but super cool fish tanks).

From what I've heard is that as long as there's no rocks attached to any corals it's permitted but heck I'm not 100% sure though. Would be really nice to obtain a CITES permit for frags only ...
