Anybody have one of these and a lighting schedule / settings that they love? I got one for my 29 gallon nano cube and it seems awesome but I haven't really gotten it dialed in yet. Don't have a lot in the tank yet, a few LPS, a softie, and an RBTA. Love to hear what some of you have done, if anybody out there has one of these things!

I have one on my Waterbox 20 build. I rented a PAR meter this weekend and will be getting numbers tomorrow when the whites are on. I am trying to mimic the AB+ spectrum I run on my Nuvo 20. I’ll post my findings, spectrum, and schedule tomorrow.

Thanks! Very much appreciated. What is the depth of your tank? I bet I can borrow a PAR meter from an LFS around here.

So let me start off by saying "Holy Crap, this light is POWERFUL!"

PAR mapping was done using an Apogee MQ-510. The light is mounted to a Waterbox Cube 20 using the provided aluminum mounting arm as included in the Micmol G3 Aqua Pro kit. The distance between the light and the water surface is 10.5" and a total of 26" from light to the bottom of the tank.

The Micmol G3 Aqua Pro has automatic and manual built in timer control, with 6 programmable settings to emulate dawn, sunrise, midday, sunset, dusk, and night. In automatic mode, the timer will ramp up and ramp down, gradually raising or lowering light intensity.

My lighting schedule is as follows, set in automatic mode:

White:
Dawn - 7am - 0%
Sunrise - 9am - 0%
Midday - 10am - 30%
Sunset - 3pm - 30%
Dusk - 3:30pm - 0%
Night - 10pm - 0%

Blue:
Dawn - 7am - 1%
Sunrise - 8am - 1%
Midday - 10am - 75%
Sunset - 7pm - 75%
Dusk - 9pm - 1%
Night - 10pm - 0%

Special:
Dawn - 7am - 0%
Sunrise - 8am - 1%
Midday - 10am - 70%
Sunset - 3:30pm - 70%
Dusk - 4pm - 10%
Night - 10pm - 0%

PAR mappings are as follows:

Day Mode - Whites: 30% - Blues: 75% - Special: 70%

Evening Mode - Whites: 0% - Blues: 75% - Special: 10%

And, for the ALL ON setting:

All On 100% Mode - Whites: 100% - Blues: 100% - Special: 100%

As you can see, this light is very powerful for the 8"x8" footprint. I am very impressed and confident this light will do well with SPS/LPS/Mixed reef tanks.

Holy crap that's intense, especially considering the price. My RBTA absolutely hates this light. Even with the whites at 20% he keeps trying to get away from it. He came from my other tank which is a Biocube 32 with the Steve's LED upgrade, which is also super powerful. The RBTAs in that tank love it and like being right up near the top abs get huge and then split. But this guy can't stand this MicMol light. Maybe he'll eventually adjust and like it but I don't know.

What are the dimensions of your tank? Wondering if I can get away with just using your PAR measurements if it's not close. Mine is a 29gal.

Thanks so much for updating!! Great review!

My tank is a standard Waterbox Cube 20, measuring 17.7" wide x 17.7" long x 15.8" tall.

Hi everybody, i Wonder if the people owning this light can share with us their experience specially with corals with high requirements. Looks like a light with 0,5 w leds will not go so deep as the 3 w leds lights.
After watching the PAR measurements it looks like it will work with any kind of corals and also that 0,5 w leds will go as deep as 3 w. Is there any reason to pick this 0,5 w light instead of a cheap popbloom with 3w leds ?

Thanks.
