So, sometimes U get gonioporas that seen the lose flesh along the ridges and seem to grow browns close cropped strands. I figured that I would put it under the microscope and see if anyone can identify it.

Thank you. That does seem to be what U am seeing under the microscope.A type of diatom?

I could be wayyyy off but the picture looks similar
I agree that what my pic is showing is not the infecting organism more likely just what is growing on unprotected skeleton. This particular case is just slow tissue loss over months, not fast like I see with briwn jelly, I've seen that as well usually after fragging recent imports. Although I don't know if I agree that what most peyote call BJD in Goniopora is indeed the same as in other LPSIMO this is a case of "correlation does not equal causation" I do believe that whatever is in the OP's photos is present on the goniopora that are seeing BJD/RTN/tissue regression (whatever we would like to call it for the purpose of this discussion) but having studied BJD in goni's I believe this is a secondary "infection" and not a root cause.
There are a few still unknown pathogenic organisms that seem to portend a goni's demise, but in my experience they are either fungal or protozoa, I'm not sure which one sets in first but I have witnessed both on gonis that saw tissue necrosis that eventually spread to the whole frag/colony.
That is just my speculation, I havent had any goni's go south in the past year or so to continue my research. I'm really curious if this thread gains any traction, there are a lot of unknowns with goni's IME.
