So I bought a Cyphastrea on a rock from my LFS and hiding inside appear to be at least a dozen of these Micro Brittle Stars. Are these considered pests?

I’m jealous. I’m about to pay for a bunch of them to seed my tank. Great clean up crew members. I used to have a HUGE population in my tank before a crash a few years ago. In the evening my rocks would come alive with their tiny arms reaching out of every nook and cranny.

They are pretty cool looking and vary in the amount of legs they have. I have seen one that had 3 legs, and others that had up to 6 legs. They never seem to want to leave their hidey holes though lol so you rarely see the little body where all their long arms connect to. Thanks for the info everyone. I definitely enjoy watching them grab food during feeding time. Does anyone know if they eat flat worms?

really don't think they do.

Congrats. Those brittles are amazing at cleaning detritus and left over food etc. Some of the BEST CUC IMO right up there with bristle worms. Yeah I said it! Bristle-worms are good!

Excellent non harmful clean up crew member.

I’ve seen them for sale in the forum for sale pages and I do know a reputable vendor on eBay selling them. Little pricy though. I have bought other things from him and had long chats with him before, he’s a great guy.

He sells 5 for $60 but that includes sh which normally is 40-50$

(His corals are healthy and the prices all include free sh! )
