Hi guys.
So I’ve been having a micro bubble issue. Here is my overflow set up (Durso style) pls let me know if I’ve set this up correct.

It would help a little if the drain was raised a little closer to the weir, reducing the waterfall.

Now, there are a few things to check in the sump:

The skimmer needs to be correctly tuned.
Baffles should trap the bubbles so they don't make it to the return pump.
Make sure that the return pump isn't sucking any air. In other words, make sure the sump is topped off.
Don't attempt to move too much water through a Durso. How many GPH is the return pump pushing, and what is the size of the drain plumbing?

Hi!

I do not have a skimmer yet. I can send you a pic of my sump, the baffles are trapping bubbles. Sump is topped off. Idk how many gph the return pump is (picked up the set up used) but it is an eheim pump and fairly large. I am sure it is the EHEIM universal pump (1250gph) I have also set up an ATO.

The foaming has completely stopped.

Good pic. Thanks.

In a perfect world. I would add another baffle or two. On the left side, if you went under->over->under instead of over->under, that would trap all bubbles. Or, you could add an 'under' baffle on the left side of the return section.

Or possibly a sponge strategically placed, or some floating chaeto would catch the bubbles.

Another thing to try would be to put a Tee on the end of the drain pipe entering the sump, and have it terminate just barely at the water line.

Or...change the drain system to a Herbie style, with one siphon drain and one emergency drain. Then have the return pipe go over the back of the tank.
