Hi all.

I've periodically had microbubbles in my display tank and I'm ready to start tacking the issue. Im using a 100g stock tank as the sump. I have 5 (4 filter socks) returns, the uv return, and the skimmer return all going into the stock tank. The pump im using is a reeflo hammerhead. I would rather not restrict the flow of this if possible

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to create some sort of bubble trap or know of another way to get rid of the microbubbles?

Thanks

Have you tried raising the water line in your sump?

Or replumbing the right return to the left side?

Looks like a lot more bubbles on the right from looking at the left side of your sump.

Yes, It seems to help, but I cant raise it much more or the sump overflows after a power outage.

How about replumbing the right side's return to the left side?

lol
Unless that's your UV's piping?

Im really looking for a way to make a bubble trap around the return pump outlet. Ive heard of some people making one. I need to do some research on the design of bubble traps. I was hoping someone here would have a easy solution.

Yea thats the return from my UV and the fuge/breed tank/frag tank. The very far right is my skimmer.

Red Sea used to use big sponge blocks around their returns to catch microbubbles, but if you go that route I'd rinse those once a week, to get out the captured detritus.

Kinda of hard to control when a sump is one big section.

Wonder if you tried returning all your water from the left side of your sump / opposite side of your skimmer, that it might do the job?

I’ve seen someone use a large Tupperware at the end of their drain lines. Like the tall ones for cereal or noodles, it helped with the splash. Could you make something like that and maybe put floss in it?

So im considering getting 3 inch, 4 inch and 6 inch pvc. putting them around my outlet for the return pump from smallest to largest, and creating a round bubble trap around the outlet. Thoughts?
