Hi. I bought some red microalgae and it came on a plug. Is there a good way to transfer that algae from the plug onto a piece of rock? Can you just scrape it off the plug and glue it to the rock like you do corals?

Here is a pic of what I am talking about.

Good question, I've not tried that one before. I take it you just don't want to move the rock somewhere?

You can hack it off and re-glue it if you like. Or as mentioned simply move the rock.

Be advised, that type of macro isn't going to stay glued. I can pretty much guarantee it will work itself loose faster than you imagine and start floating around.

It may take several attempts before you get it to attach to a rock and stay there.

Yeah. It isn't on a rock, I just put that rock in fron of it to help hide the PLUG it is attached to. That why I wanted to glue it to an actual rock because Im very limited on where I can put this thing.

I would keep it on the plug and glue the plug to a rock. If you can take as much of the plug off as you can. Cool looking algae :)

I've heard of people attaching it to a rock with a rubber band (like some people do with mushrooms). Anyway, sooner or later the algae will attache itself to the rock. I haven't done this, but I've seen it done a a reputable Reef Store.
