Microbacter 7

I am struggling with high phosphates and this has been going on for over two years. I have tried everything. I am at the point my nano tank is over run with algae. My phosphate read 4.0. I thought this was a false reading it wasn’t. I am seeing what people think of microbacter 7 for phosphates. Thanks for any input on the product

I was having algae issues in my 125 and started dosing Microbacter 7 daily, I have been doing it for around a year while also dosing Nopox as my Nitrates would make my Hanna tester start blinking since then my algae is gone my Phosphates test 0.03 Nitrate 10.0 and my Sps look great. I also have a big clean up crew.

It may work, but it'll take a loooong time.

I use Phosguard in a bag on my nano and it works well. Any Aluminium Oxide equivalent will also work.
GFO is too difficult and messy in my experience for anything smaller than 40 gal with a sump.

What is your water change routine? I find in most nanos a 20% biweekly water changes almost always suffices the tanks needs. What do you run for filtration in the rear chambers? Filter floss? Skimmer? Any chemipure or purigen?

I change my water every Friday about 20-25%. I have in the first chamber an intake media basket. Floss, chemi pure elite. The pump I have for tank is 880gph pump. I also have a small power head in tank. Currently the middle section has nothing in it. I just order phosguard bags to start using in tank. Attached is photo of my tank currently.

I would never assume bacteria in a bottle to directly address nutrient issues like PO4. GFO or similar like Phosguard is the key after trying to identify the source of the problem. Your 20-25% WC should have keep things in check so I would also look into your WC water quality.

Bacter7 is one of those "just because" product to attempt and keep a certain bacteria population in balance, but I don't think there is any any real research to suggest it will work. I do it "just because" every few months mainly as fillers to shopping carts to make a free shipping threshold. There is no magic there IMHO

I doesn't look like you have much for Corals in there. I had hair Algae that bad also I didn't have many corals at the time. I kept taking the rocks out and scrubbing them in heated salt water. It's a lot of work but if you keep at it. Also throw a bunch of Mexican Turbo snails in the tank.
