I added Microbacter7 to my new tank reefer 170 ( 3 weeks old now) and added a clown to start my tank for cycling as that is what the store owner said to do. ( been out of the game a little so thought this is a new idea to cycle?) Still don't see nitrate and nitrite. Also ammonia is 0 too. Was thinking about adding fritzzyme9 to help show some nitrate? Or should I do a water change of 5 gallons then add the fritz to out compete the other bacteria? Or am I ok with the Microbacter7?
I already ordered the fritz and am getting it tomorrow

So basically, fritz zyme 9 and microbacter are both bottles of cycling bacteria, with microbacter 7 in addition having some heterotrophs (break down and consume detritus and food) and anaerobs (I don't know what species they have in the bottle but I assume it is the type that turns nitrate to nitrogen gas but this bacteria requires areas of very very little oxygen). They won't "add" nitrate, but will proviode the bacteria to turn ammonia intro nitrite and then nitrate. A single clown in that tank with a whole bottle of bacteria is not going to produce very much of any of the three, so not seeing any would be normal. It won't hurt to add the fritz, but it is not necessary. You can save it for when you get a second fish, or add it now. Either way it won't harm anything.

Sweet! Ok I will just add it to the tank since I don't want the bacteria to die in the bottle.

Both work well and if you run out, theres a new kid on the block called MicroBacter XLM
These are however temperature sensitive and once expired after about 3 more months- cultures are likely dead as it has nitrifiers with a shelf life. Once tank is cycled- the need to dose is diminished
