Microbacter7 question

If you‘re using it to start a new tank i think it’s always a good idea to get a new bottle of any bacteria. If it’s just dosing as a maintenance activity problem fine to use it till it’s gone.

It is stated on their technical bulletin " FOR BEST RESULTS" use within one year of OPENING bottle and does not limit it to a year.

Quote:
If using a pipette to dispense MicrōBacter7 below water level of container or aquarium, be sure to thoroughly clean pipette with fresh water prior to placing tube back into
MicrōBacter7 bottle; failure to do so will contaminate the product. Best results may be obtained by adding mixture to external biological filtration system (if applicable). Do not add to pump intake port(s). For best results, use within 1-year of purchase date.

" For best results, use within 1-year of purchase date." -- from Brightwell's product information page. So, sort of?
My tank has been up and running for a year. And people where saying to use microbacter7 to help keep my sand bed clean. I don’t know if this is true or not but to have it help keep my level down is good enough. I have a 240 gallon tank what should I dose? Because it says 1 drop for every 50 gallons daily?

There’s a few of these “cleaning” products on the market and while many said it worked, it may create other issues.

I used Vibrant, one of the brands, wiped out the bubble algae, but took my coralline with it.

Make sure your N and P are steady an in the appropriate ranges. Many of the sand issues resolve themselves in time.

Well, continuing to use it will certainly keep Brightwell happy. Not sure it will assist your tank at this stage unless you do a major cleanup or new aquascape.

I use mb7 along with mb clean with every water change just became a habit. Rocks and sand bed are pretty clean been doing this for about a year now

Hey reefers does microbacter7 have a shelf life and if so how long?
BRS has some new product, Dry Bacteria.

Live Rock Enhance - Bacterial Live Rock Conditioner - 2 oz - Reef Brite

The Reef Brite Live Rock Enhance is an extremely concentrated blend of bacteria and supporting enzymes designed to quickly clean and cure both new and old live rock. The microbes in Live Rock Enhance become activated when added to water and will rapidly break down hidden organic material and wastes, unclogging the pore structure within the rock and enhancing the biological filtration capacity of any rock. Live Rock Enhance can also help to revitalize sump biofilters, sandbeds, refugiums, and other areas where detritus accumulates over time. This allows these natural filtration sites to function more efficiently, keeping your aquarium healthy and clean.

Sounds good to me. Should last longer than the wet kind.

What you quoted says 1 year from purchase, not opening. Did you read opening in some other documentation or did you misread it?

I had it backwards- purchase
A 16oz bottle would last me 6 months or so, so not worried about the 1 year frame
