Hi all.

Cleaned my Nyos Quantum skimmer some months back with citric acid and ever since I cannot eliminate the Microbubbles issue.

i am running the triton method so the turnover is high. Around 4000-5000 L/H BUT it wasn’t an issue before.

i have spoken to customer support at Nyos and they can’t fix it.

I can only presume it’s something in the water.

my tank is 600L and about 3 months old. I am running triton method and all my parameters are in the “green” range. My phosphate is almost zero and my nitrate is about 1.0.

anyone who can help me fix this would become a hero to me!

Are the microbubbles definitely coming from the skimmer? How much skimmate is your skimmer producing now? Without seeing pictures or video, the first possibilities that come to mind is to raise the height of the skimmer, remove the filter sock(s), and/or add a bubble trap (maybe even with a porous sponge) in your sump after the skimmer. Good luck!

I run two Vortech Vectra M2 pumps.
You could make a power filter on the intake of the pumps. This would eliminate micro bubbles until you figure out the cause or jist run it like that.
So 1.25 pipe attatched to the intake. Drill a bunch of holes in the pipe and cap the end. Get filter floss and wrap the exposed holes and secure with rubber bands or cable ties.
This works very well and you will eliminate the micro bubbles.

Any use of filter floss will just clog.

In the baffle, even a course sponge is pushed out.

3 months old sounds like new tank syndrome to me. So don’t panic I’m assuming you’re still in your start up fase. Just give it time for the tention offyour water surface to adjust. It’s because you use fresh mixed salt. So don’t do anything just relax turn off your skimmer and try everyday to see how it goes. Is it still micro bubbling then turn it off and try again the next day.

Thanks all.

Will try what you suggest. I used live water and live sand in the new tank plus the rock from my old tank too.

I had a long period where I didn’t have this issue then it just came on suddenly.

I had that on a different brand of skimmer.
Check your needle wheel impeller.
Make sure there are no missing posts.
That was the cause of mine. It made large bubbles like I saw in the video.
