I've actually done this in the past but wondering if running a limewood air stone next to the return pump actually helps with more oxygen in my nano tank as it is low on oxygen. I've heard about the effects that it has as far as cleaning coral and keeping your tank clean also.

The bubbling gurus make a lot of wild claims about it. I have also tried it for some time but cant really say if it was making my tank better. It definitely doesn't hurt. They claim that the coral slime effect it creates is beneficial but I'm not sure you can really test that.

I run some additional air stones in the sump but don’t let any bubbles get pumped into the display. I was always under the impression that micro bubbles can irritate fish and coral. Might be wrong though.

Agreed.. I wouldn't have micro bubbles in main tank. I've heard that it can cause damage to the fish and I also heard that it does nothing so safety first for me. You can try aiming water outlet or wavemaker more towards surface so there's more water movement
