Hi all!
Everywhere I read, it is stated that having a diverse population of pods, bacteria strains, and other microorganisms is highly beneficial for a reef tank in promoting stability and keeping different organisms in check.
My big question: how do I seed this incredible diversity? My tanks aren't barren wastelands. I've seeded with the big three regularly available copepods (tigris, tisbe, apoc), and see them pretty often on the glass especially at night. I don't necessarily have any issues, but I'd really like to increase tank diversity in the pod, bacteria, and other microfauna front.
Anybody have any suggestions? Buy some wild collected corals online attached to wild rocks? Swap rubble with some hobbyists in the area? Are there commercially available products for this?
Or am I overthinking it, and these things will just randomly appear over time? I just like knowing the tank is crawling with life of all types, and I want to know the best and safest ways to increase that life!
