whats the difference between these two corals>

Mostly size of the polyps. Micros being smaller than acans.

They are two different genera belonging to the family Mussidae. Micromussa has smaller polyps and I find is generally less aggressive in its' feeding habits than is Acanthastrea.

ill post some pics of my new "acans" i bought latter tonight let me know what you guys think? bought acans think i ended up with micromussas.

so the ones on the left are my new find and the ones on the right are some acans I have had for a while. safe to say they are micromussas?

one other question where should my acans be located at in my tank. right now they are on the bottom of my 90gl and under (2) 250w 14K MH. does this sound right? and how much would a colony this size of micros go for?

That sounds good for placement on the acans. As far as price on micros, I have seen them anywhere from $10 all the way up to $70 per polyp.

You're welcome!! If I may ask, how much of a steal did you get that piece for?

Nice scores alright. I remember reading in a discussion about the main difference of acans vs micromussas and as stated it is the size of the adult polyp, micros being 7mm and below and acans being 10 mm and above.
