I’ve been battling a pretty bad outbreak for a while now. Tried reef flux without making a difference. Tried manual removal with little impact. Recently did a 3 day blackout and it helped a little. Responds well to peroxide but no way to breakdown the tank and dip it all (I’ll just buy all new rock at that point) it was pretty much covering everything and killing corals. I don’t have numbers at this point (I know) but I’ve never really chased them. Tank has been set up for 2ish years. This is a fairly recent issue with no changes over the last year. I did break down my old tank several years ago acid and bleach dipped everything, let it all dry for the summer then stored everything for probably 3 years before setting it back up. Tank has been awesome up to this point. Not looking for anyone to criticize this post, just looking for an ID so I can proceed. What other info would be needed if any since I have a physical microscopic photo of the issue. TIA!

The only thing I ever looked at with a scope was dinos and diatoms. Can you post regular picture with whites on?

I originally thought it might be bryopsis but since it didn't react to the reef-flux I'm guessing it's something else. This is a couple days after manual removal and the 3 day blackout. CUC don't seem interested (or at least can't keep up) powder blue tang has no interest.

@vetteguy53081 would you have any thoughts here. you've been a help in the past. I have been googling microscopic photos of algae for a few days with no luck.

Looks like some species of green hair algae. Not everyone eats it unfortunately. What are your nitrates and phosphates at? What test kits do you use for them?
